Tamale Technical University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointments as Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff.

Tamale Technical University is a public university in Ghana. It was established in 1951 as a Trades Training Centre and was subsequently elevated as Junior Technical Institute in 1960. In August, 1992, the institution was converted to a polytechnic following the promulgation of the PNDC Law 321 and later attained the status of a full-fledged university in 2018, through the Technical Universities (Amendment) Act, 2018 (Act 974).

The University is located in the capital city of the Northern Region of Ghana. Nestled in the Savannah Ecological Zone with all the amenities for raising of family, including affordable housing.

SECTION A: TEACHING STAFF
  1. Categories and Qualifications
    • Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer: Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant subject area and must have attained the position of Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer from a recognized tertiary/research institution at the time of application. Applicants must show a strong research profile evidenced by peer-reviewed publication, presentation at academic conferences, published books/chapters, inventions, or evidence of applied research leading to community or industrial applications.
    • Lecturer: Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant subject area. Post qualification experience in a Lecturer’s grade from a recognized tertiary/research institution will be an asset. Evidence of teaching and research experience will be valuable.
    • Applicants with strong demonstrated experience from a recognized tertiary/research institution with an M.Phil. or other thesis-based Master’s degree in a relevant subject area and enrolled in a PhD programme will be appointed at the Assistant Lecturer grade.
    • The candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level and to conduct applied research in the relevant area. Ability to develop and teach graduate level courses and to supervise graduate students will be an asset.

SECTION B: NON-TEACHING STAFF
  1. Assistant Sports Officer/Coach
  2. Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization. The Assistant Sports Officer/Coach shall be responsible to the Director of Sports/Sports Officer.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Assistant Sports Officer/Coach shall assist the Sports Officer in the performance of his/her duties as provided for in the Guiding Statutes for Technical Universities.

    Qualification and Experience

    Applicant must hold a minimum of a Masters’ Degree in a relevant field and must have at least six (6) years post-qualification experience

  3. Senior Research Assistant (Actuarial Science background)
  4. Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Performs the duties of Research Assistant at a higher level of responsibility;
    • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the appropriate authority.
    Qualification and Experience
    • Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science) degree awarded by a recognized institution.
    • Candidates must show clear evidence of ability to hold schedule(s) without supervision; and
    • Must be computer literate.
  5. Research Assistants (IT & Statistics background)
  6. Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Research Assistant shall assist his or her superiors to carry laboratory research activities, which shall include, but not limited to:

    • Field data collection and entering of data collected;
    • Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment;
    • Assisting students and researchers in practical work in the laboratory; and
    • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the appropriate authority.
    Qualification and Experience

    Applicants must hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics or Information Technology (IT) awarded by a recognized institution.

  7. Technicians/Senior Technicians (Automotive Engineering)
  8. Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Staff in these grades shall be responsible for general duties in the workshop, which shall include, but not limited to:

    • General maintenance of workshops and vehicle laboratories;
    • Cleaning and maintaining workshop/laboratory equipment;
    • General vehicle maintenance;
    • Assisting students and researchers in practical work in the workshop; and
    • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the appropriate authority.
    Qualification and Experience

    Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering awarded by a recognized institution;

    Or

    • HND in Automotive Engineering awarded by a recognized institution.
    • Candidates must be computer literate.

    The Chief Security Officer shall be responsible for the overall administration of the safety and security needs and services of the University community. These shall include, but not limited to:

  9. Technicians/Senior /Principal/Chief Technicians (Welding background)
  10. Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Staff in these grades shall be responsible for general duties in the workshop, which shall include, but not limited to:

    • General maintenance of workshops;
    • Cleaning and maintaining workshop equipment;
    • Assisting students and researchers in practical work in the welding workshop; and
    • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the appropriate authority.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in welding awarded by a recognized institution;
    • OR

    • HND in welding awarded by a recognized institution.
    • Candidates must be computer literate.
  11. Technicians (Electrical/Electronic Engineering)
  12. Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Staff in these grades shall be responsible for general duties in the workshop, which shall include, but not limited to:

    • General maintenance of electrical networks;
    • Maintenance of consumer units of the University;
    • Wiring of the University Bungalows;
    • Works on low Tension lines and poles;
    • Installation of streetlights; and
    • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the appropriate authority.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Applicants must hold a Higher National Diploma certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering awarded by a recognized institution;
    • Candidates must be computer literate.
