The Library at Tamale Technical University is integral to the university’s mission. The Library provides ready access to quality information, provide excellent learning spaces and services, and supports the University's research and innovation activities. The library also facilitates valuable conversations on scholarly communication, copyright, research, teaching, and learning in higher education, helping to shape the future of academic scholarship within and without the University.
Our Library is centrally located adjacent the Main Administration Block, thereby enhancing easy access and quality service delivery to all clientele. The Library has a stock of 23,000 volumes and subscribes to several core print academic Journals.
A new Library complex is in the offing. Considered a special project, work is progressing rapidly and has reached about 80% completion. When inaugurated it will host an ICT centre, a book shop, spacious learning rooms, a mini mart and other offices all for the service of all students, staff, researchers and other users

The Library Lending service covers copies of books and other publications, which could be borrowed by users for reading outside the library premises. However, in the interim the library lending services is restricted to only staff. For now it serves as a reference library for the students.
The Reference services provide opportunity for users to have access to authoritative books including encyclopaedias, dictionaries, directories and handbooks. Reference books may not be checked out because they are needed by librarians to answer questions at the reference desk. The Reference services also refer users to other collection such as students’ projects reports and periodicals
Lecturers may borrow up to 6 books per semester, subject to recall after 4 weeks if circumstances of the library so demand. Part-time lecturers may borrow up to 4 books per semester, subject to recall after 4 weeks if circumstances of the library so demand. Administrative staff may borrow up to 3 books for 2 weeks renewable once only if not requested by another user. Books borrowed may be recalled after 7 days if circumstances of the library demand
A book which is on loan and which is required by another reader may be reserved on application to the Librarian in charge of the Lending Library. The reader would be notified when the book is available. Such a book will be kept for only 3 days. If it is not collected after the period, the book will be returned to the library’s shelves.
The following shall constitute library offences:
Any person who commits this offence shall be liable to pay a fine of GH¢1.00 per day up to seven (7) days. Thereafter a fine of GH¢2.00 a day plus loss of borrowing rights will be imposed until the books are returned. Final year students who fail to return all library books to the Library three (3) days before the Second Semester final examination will be debarred from taking the examinations.
The person shall lose borrowing rights for one semester.
Any person who commits this offence shall be liable to pay thrice the current price of the book.
Any person who commits this offence shall be dismissed from the University.
Any person who tears pages, sections and illustrations from library books/materials shall be dismissed from the University
Any person who commits this offence will pay the current price of the book in Ghana Cedi and will lose borrowing rights for two semesters. In the case of a lecturer who commits any of the above offences a report will be made to the Vice-chancellor and the Registrar for appropriate sanctions. With regard to the General Rules of the Library, flouting any of them could result in the Library imposing appropriate sanctions on the offender(s), including the suspension of the use of the Library.
