  Published : by

The Public Affairs Directorate of Tamale Technical University on Thursday 10th March, 2022 paid a visit to the year three (3) students of the Department of Fashion and Design (Textiles Option) during their practical session at the department. The visit forms part of the directorate’s new strategy of visiting students during their practical training sessions. The objective of this new strategy is to “capture “ both the Faculty and the students in “action “ for the outside publics to appreciate what really goes on at the various departments in the University.
The visit witnessed Hajia Abass Sherifa, a Lecturer in Textiles taking students through the practical aspect of the programme.
According to the Lecturer, the students numbering fifteen (15) are expected to go through this particular training for the entire semester. She indicated that this session forms a critical component of the entire programme of studies which is three years.
On their part, the students expressed their satisfaction to their Lecturer for her continued dedication and commitment especially during their practical trainings. They appealed to the University Management to immediately consider putting in plans to expand the existing workshop so that more students who desire to come to the department can be catered for. The students used the opportunity to encourage the youth to consider taking up this programme of study since its products gain self-employable skills. They also appealed to the government and other development partners like GiZ and others to initiate the support systems for them to take advantage to setup their respective ventures that would create jobs for their siblings who are jobless.
The Public Affairs Directorate is scheduled to visit more departments and workshops in the coming days as part of the strategy of informing and educating the public.
