About the programme

Dietetics is an interdisciplinary program that incorporates the sciences of human biology, biochemistry, food science, social, as well as business studies. Dietetics is a sub discipline of medicine that focuses on all aspect of food and its effects on the human bodies.

Bachelor of Technology in Community Dietetics four –year (8 semesters) is an undergraduate programme offered by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Tamale Technical University.

Entry requirements:

  1. WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants

Applicants must have obtained credits passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects for WASSCE applicants and  (A-D) in six subjects for SSSCE applicants comprising the core subjects: Integrated Science, Mathematics and English plus any three (3) of these relevant electives: Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Elective Mathematics.

  • Mature ApplicantsMust be at least 25 years old with any legitimate documentary proof. Must have at least 2 years relevant Nutrition and/or Dietetics or related subjects’ working experience (A letter from employer is required).Passes in ‘O’ Level or SSSCE/WASSCE Elective Science [Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics (Further or Elective)] as well as credits in Core English and Mathematics. Must pass a selection interview to be conducted by the University.

Candidates with Certificate or Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized health training institution, HND (Food Science and Technology or Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management) with a grade point of 2.0 and above and with a minimum of 3 years working experience in the nutrition, dietetics and food service setting and having passed an interview. Successful candidates will enter at Level 300.
