Cynthia Azochiman Awuni is a PHD student at the University of Ghana offering Geography and Resource Development at the department of Geography and Resource Development. She is also a lecturer at the Tamale Technical University at the department of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Her research interest is in sustainable tourism development, climate change (sustainable transitions), spatial planning tourism mobilities and resources development/management.

Cynthia has experience in Resource Planning, Environmental Impact Analysis, Development Policy Planning, Project Implementation and Management, Value Chain Development and incorporation of cross cutting themes especially Gender and Climate Change in projects. She has worked with local organizations and collaborated with non-Governmental organizations to bring about positive change in the life of people especially around Tamale and the rest of Northern Ghana. She has extensively worked with Districts Assemblies, the wildlife Division, local communities and knows and appreciates the governance systems/dynamics.

She is passionate about facilitating processes to achieve a sustainable relationship between man, society and the environment and encouraging and supporting the deprived in the society to be self- reliant and proactively tackle poverty using environmentally friendly strategies, advocacy, good governance and locally appropriate resources/technologies.

She is currently working with the Pathways for Equitable Healthy cities project, a partnership between Imperial College London, University of Ghana and other Universities across the globe. This project is funded by the Wellcome Trust, UK.
