10TH VCTUG CONFERENCE HELD AT TAMALE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

On Monday 7th February, 2022, Tamale Technical University(TaTU) played a host to the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana((VCTUG). The meeting was the 10th session of the group which is made up the Vice-Chancellors of all the ten(10) Technical Universities in the country.
Addressing the opening session of the meeting, the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Central Admissions Processing System(CAPS), Rev. Prof. Addo Obeng hinted the Government’s readiness to roll out the new system where all tertiary institutions in the country will have to use a single admissions platform for their respective admissions. He said this new system will not only include the public and private universities but other tertiary institutions in the country. The Chairman of the VCTUG, Prof. Ben Quarshie Honyehoga welcomed his colleagues and urged them to consider the meeting as critical and important. He wished his colleague Vice Chancellors to support and contribute their ideas for a successful three(3) days deliberations.
Earlier in the morning, the Vice-Chancellor of the host institution, Prof. Abass Braimah led his colleagues to pay a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Sagnarigu Traditional Area, His Excellency Naa Abdulai Yakubu at his Palace in Sagnarigu. The Paramount Chief expressed his excitement to the delegation and took advantage of their visit to remind them to add their voices to
UTAG to further engage for mutual understanding.This, he said will allow for the University students to resume academic work soon. In recognition of the visit to the Palace, the Sagnarigu Naa. Abdulai Yakubu presented a bull to the delegation and thanked them for recognizing him as the traditional head of the area .
Dr. Abdulai Jinapor, the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, was among the dignitaries that graced the session.
The Director of the Public Affairs of Tamale Technical University, Mr. Osman Mubarik Abu indicated to the media that all is set for the three-day meeting in TaTU. Mr. Osman thanked the participants for their cooperation and also expressed the University’s gratitude to the Paramount Chief of Sagnarigu for his support to the conference.
