The Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Monday 14th November played host to Vice-Chancellors, Registrars, Finance Directors, and Senior Management staff of the various Technical Universities in Ghana for the opening ceremony for the second edition of the Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association (GHATUSA) games.
Present to open the ceremony were the Board Chairman for the National Sports Authority who represented the Vice President of Ghana and also the Minister for Youth and Sports, the Deputy Director General of GTEC, the Chief Director for the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, representatives of the Mayor of Tamale and the Chief of Choggu.
The various participating institutions mounted parades during the opening ceremony.
This year’s games are hosted by Tamale Technical University (TaTU).
Professor Abass Braimah, Vice-Chancellor of the host University welcomed all the participating teams to Tamale and urged all to enjoy the tournament and use the event to enhance their network of friendship.
The opening session witnessed a soccer match between the host institution, TaTU and HTU where TaTU lost to HTU in a penalty kicks.
