Prof. Abass Braimah, Vice Chancellor of Tamale Technical University (TaTU) on Tuesday 31st January, 2023 launched the Gender and Diversity Center of the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU) as the Guest of Honor for the launch.
During the launch he praised the DHLTU Management and GiZ for creating this Center and urged them not to relent in their support after the launch to help the Center achieve its goals and objectives. He recounted how TaTU launched a similar Center in 2022 and the effort his outfit is putting in to support Senior High Schools within the Tamale metropolis by organizing extra classes in mathematics and science related subjects for female students in their final year.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Abass appealed to the University community and all stakeholders to continue to support this Center to live up to its usefulness.
The Vice Chancellor of TaTU did not forget to mention to members present that TaTU was the first ever Technical University to have established a working diversity center. Hence the DHLTU Gender and Diversity Center creation was in the right direction.
The DHLTU Gender and Diversity Center is being headed by Prof. Hamidatu S. Darimani as its founding Director.
Present to support the launch of the Center were the Vice Chancellor of DHLTU, Prof. Elias NK Sowley, management and staffs of DHLTU, Prof. Adiza Sadik of TaTU, Dr Akurugu Constance, Lecturer, UBIDS Wa.
The event was also attended by the Registrar, Director of Public Affairs of TaTU, Deans and Directors of DHLTU, faculty, students, Heads of some second cycle schools as well as some traditional authorities within the Upper West.
