Tamale Technical University (TaTU) on the 28th April, 2023 commissioned the AVIC Laboratory, a magnificent facility equipped with ultra-modern workshops and a full complement of machinery and equipment for the departments of Automotive Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Welding and Fabrication. The AVIC Laboratory was made possible through the Ghana-China Project on “The Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Equipment in Technical Universities and Technical Institutes.”
As part of the government’s efforts to improve access and quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), the AVIC Building will serve as a resource center of excellence for technical and vocational training, equipped with state-of-the-art machines and training tools for all levels. To prepare for the use of the facility, the staff of Tamale Technical University underwent a three-month training on the various machinery and equipment.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Honorably Northern Regional Minister, Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Peter Boahen who was the representative of the Director General, Commission for Technical and Vocational Educational Training (CTVET), the Council Chairman of the University, and other stake holders in the education sector.
The AVIC Building offers Tamale Technical University a facility for improved teaching and learning, research, and innovation that can lead to solutions to the many developmental problems facing Ghana. This state-of-the-art facility is a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to expand equitable access and improve the quality of TVET in the educational sector.
