Tamale, Ghana – In a historic occasion that showcased the growing partnership between Ghana and Turkey, Her Excellency Hajia Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, accompanied by the Ambassador of Turkey to Ghana His Excellency Huseyin Gungor, and the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Saani Alhassan Shaibu paid a visit to Tamale Technical University on Wednesday, May 25th, 2023. The purpose of their visit was to officially commission the TiKA 3D Robotic and Solutions Studio, a cutting-edge facility aimed at fostering innovation and technological advancements not just in TaTU but also within the Northern Region.
The highly anticipated event was met with excitement and anticipation from both students of TaTU and Senior High Schools within the Greater Tamale, faculty members, and dignitaries alike. The state-of-the-art TiKA 3D Robotic and Solutions Studio, established by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA), promises to revolutionize education and research in the fields of robotics, engineering, and technology.
Upon their arrival, Her Excellency Hajia Samira Bawumia and the Ambassador of Turkey were warmly welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor and Management of Tamale Technical University, Professor Abass Braimah. The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the Second Lady to the University and thanked the Turkish Government for the initiative and support of the University. He praised the commitment of the Turkish people to supporting education delivery, particularly to higher educational institutions. Professor Abass pledged the University’s commitment to making good use of the studio.
In her address, Her Excellency Hajia Samira Bawumia expressed her gratitude to the Government of Turkey for their unwavering support in promoting technological advancements in Ghana. She emphasized the importance of equipping the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute to the nation’s development. The Second Lady highlighted the TiKA 3D Robotic and Solutions Studio as a significant milestone towards achieving this goal, stating, “The commission marks another important step toward providing an exceptional learning experience by embracing the world of three-dimensional art and technology.”
The Ambassador of Turkey to Ghana, in his remarks, praised the enduring partnership between Ghana and Turkey, emphasizing the mutual benefits of such collaborations. He commended Tamale Technical University for its commitment to providing quality education and urged students to take full advantage of the facility, encouraging them to be at the forefront of technological advancements. She encouraged the youth to apply and gain admission to Tamale Technical University to take advantage of this facility and others to upgrade their knowledge and skills for the future.
Following the speeches, Her Excellency Hajia Samira Bawumia, accompanied by the Ambassador, Northern Regional Minister, Mayor of Sagnarigu, and University officials, unveiled the plaque marking the official inauguration of the TiKA 3D Robotic and Solutions Studio. The studio features state-of-the-art 3D printers, robotic systems, virtual reality equipment, and design software, enabling students and researchers to engage in cutting-edge projects and practical applications.
During a guided tour of the facility, the Second Lady and the Ambassador had the opportunity to witness demonstrations of the studio’s capabilities. The Students showcased some projects, ranging from automated manufacturing processes to humanoid robots, displaying the immense potential for innovation within the university community.
