Uniqueness of the Programme

The MTech in Mechanical Engineering at Tamale Technical University is unique due to its unique curriculum, which focuses on advanced knowledge acquisition and application through hands-on training. The program aims to transform traditional theory and abstract-based learning into an innovative, motivated, and practical environment, enabling graduates to contribute to sustainable socio-economic transformation and growth.

Target Market and Employability:

Graduates of the MTech in Mechanical Engineering programme can be employed in several areas in Ghana and abroad. Some of these areas include but not limited to:

Mechanical Engineering Consultancy Establishments

i.         Mining Industries

ii.        Power and Energy Sectors (Including VRA, GRIDCO, etc.)

iii.        Oil and Gas Industry

iv.         Telecommunications Sector

v.        Water and Sanitation Sector (such as the Ghana Water Company, etc.)

vi.       Agro Processing Industries (such as Shea-nut Industry, etc.)

vii.      Governmental Agencies such as District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies.

viii.        Self- employment

ix.         Teaching (pre-tertiary) and Research in Educational Institutions (Public and Private)

Students’ Admission, Progression and Graduation

The duration of the Master of Technology programme in Mechanical Engineering is two (2) years. The following are the minimum entry requirements for admission into the Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering Programme:

Applicant must have a BTech certificate in any of the following programmes with at least 2nd Class (Lower Division); Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Welding and Fabrication Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Structural Civil Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering and any other related engineering disciplines.

Applicants with Bachelor degree in engineering and its equivalent will also be considered.

Application for Foreign Students

Applicants from foreign countries with equivalent entry requirement(s) will be considered after evaluation and validation of certificates from Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
