GSA AND TaTU SIGNS MOU TO USE AUTO. LAB. AS TESTING CENTER

The Tamale Technical University (TaTU) and the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Friday, 28th October 2023. This partnership involves the use of TaTU’s Automotive AVEC Engineering laboratory as a testing center for the Northern Sector by the Ghana Standards Authority.

Presentation of the MOU

Prof. Alex Dodoo, the Director General of the Standards Authority, commended TaTU for taking advantage of the initiative and partnering with his Authority. He mentioned that the GSA is prepared to support approximately 100 women-led business initiatives from the Northern Regions in obtaining certification from both the Ghana Standards Authority and the Food and Drugs Authority. Prof. Dodoo also praised the practical approach to teaching and learning at TaTU and encouraged other institutions to follow their lead in providing practical training.

Prof. Abass Braimah, the Vice-Chancellor of TaTU, expressed his gratitude to the Director General of the GSA and his team for recognizing the university and pledged to fully utilize this new partnership. He also outlined some of the potential benefits that TaTU can offer to the industry, benefiting both students and the general public.

A joint meeting of TaTU and GSA Management

Following the signing of the MOU, a delegation from the GSA, including the entire management of the organization and some staff from the Ministry of Finance, inspected TaTU’s AVEC Engineering Laboratory. This collaboration between TaTU and the Ghana Standards Authority is expected to bring about advancements in automotive engineering and promote standards in the Northern Sector, ultimately benefiting the community and businesses in the region.
