Canadian High Commissioner Visits TaTU to Supervise WEE-NORTH Project

The Canadian High Commissioner, her excellency Kati Csaba, on Monday, June 20, 2022, paid a working visit to Tamale Technical University (TaTU) to supervise the WEE-NORTH project, Women’s Economic Empowerment project, collaboration between TaTU and ALINEA Foundation to train young women in technical craft vocational skills that are commonly dominated by men. It is a project fully funded by Global Affairs Canada and is being implemented in the Northern Region of Ghana by ALINEA Foundation to empower women interested in industrial trades in the region.

Her Excellency Csaba was warmly welcomed and accompanied by Tamale Technical University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof Bashiru Imoro Ibn Saeed, the Registrar Alhaji Yakubu Iddrisu and staff of the University to tour around various exhibitions where trainees displayed technical craft in wood work technology, brick laying, electrical engineering and plumbing.

She found her visit fruitful as she had first-hand information on the performance of these young women in the various area and was glad to encourage them to do more to empower themselves in industrial trades, which are believed to be dominated by men.
