Dr. Askia Musah Mohammed obtained his B.Sc. (Chemistry) and MPhil. (Soil Science) degrees from the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, Ghana, in 1999 and 2008, respectively and Ph.D. (Soil Science) degree from the University of Reading, Reading, United Kingdom, in 2014.

Dr. A.M. Mohammed is currently the Ag. Dean of the faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Tamale Technical University (TaTU), Tamale in Ghana. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Sustainable Agriculture. Prior to his joining TaTU, he was a Senior Research Scientist with over twenty (20) years of professional working experience in the National Agricultural Research System as soil chemistry and fertility improvement expert. He had been working at the CSIR-Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (CSIR-SARI), Tamale, Ghana, since 2001 until 2021 when he resigned and picked the teaching appointment from TaTU. He had held managerial positions at CSIR-SARI including the head of the soil chemistry section and the team leader for the northern region farming systems research group.

He was a member of the internal management committee of CSIR-SARI from 2019 to 2021. Dr. A.M. Mohammed’s research works focus on the development of agricultural systems to enhance sustainable soil productivity and resilience to climate changes. Mainly, the areas of research include integrated soil fertility management, plant nutrition, plant and soil analyses procedures and participatory research approaches. Specifically, he conducts research into plant litter decomposition and nutrient dynamics in soils, integrated soil fertility management, nutrient data interpretation and fertilizer recommendations based on the 4R fertilizer framework.
