Ing. Dr. Anthony Mawutor Atsu is the Director of Institute of Competency Based Training and Curriculum Development, Tamale Technical University, Tamale in Ghana. He is also a Senior Lecturer of Agricultural Engineering at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Prior to this, he has held the following positions; HoD Agric Engineering Department, Vice Rector, Non-Tertiary, HoD Mechanical Engineering, Competency Based Training (CBT) Coordinator and HoD Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Ing. Dr. Atsu is a Professional Engineer with Ghana Institution of Engineering.
Education
Ing. Dr. Atsu holds a PhD (Engineering Management) from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, MSc (Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering) with distinction from the University of Greenwich, the United Kingdom, Bachelor of Education (Technical, Mechanical Major), Diploma in Education (CBT Option), Certificate in Technical Education all from the University of Education Winneba, Kumasi now Akenten Appiah-Minkah University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) Kumasi, Ghana. He Also, holds Diploma in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Work Experience
Ing. Dr. Atsu has taught for over twenty-two (22) years in Tamale Technical University (TaTU) and was very instrumental in development of CBT curriculum for HND Agricultural engineering, HND Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and CBT curriculum for HND cashew tree crop production and processing and Tree crop production and processing. He taught at Battor Senior High, during National Service. Also taught at Aveyime Senior High briefly, He did attachment at AngloGold Ashanti at Obuasi in the Ashanti region. He had practical training at Japan Motors Trading Company, Tamale branch.
Research Interest/Output
Ing. Dr. Atsu’s area of research is manufacturing waste management and ways to improve technical and vocational education and training (TVET). He researched on managing waste at glass-fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) products manufacturing industry. Developed a framework for industrial waste management. Researched on sources and ways of controlling manufacturing industrial waste in northern Ghana. Harnessing skills and competencies for industrial development through knowledge transfer partnership in Ghana. Creating wealth through CBT production units in TVET institutions in Ghana. Enhancing participation of girls in TVET. Enhancing academic progression of technical and vocational education students into tertiary institutions in Ghana. He currently has seven (7) publications.
