A significant initiative to boost skills and employment opportunities in Ghana’s hospitality and tourism sectors for young people was launched at the Tamale Technical University (TaTU). The Ghana Cares training and retraining program, launched by TaTU with funding from the Ministry of Finance, is a significant effort to address youth unemployment and promote economic growth in these sectors.
The launch event was held on August 9th, 2023, at the ICT Auditorium, was attended by Mr. Akwasi Owusu-Mainu, a representative from the Ministry of Finance. This suggests that the government is actively involved in supporting and endorsing this program.
The program’s focus on hands-on desk training for about 600 participants over the course of a week and is expected to be a practical approach to ensuring that the participants gain valuable skills and knowledge to establish their respective ventures.
