Prof. Bashir Ibn Imoro Saeed

Professor Bashiru Imoro Ibn Saeed is a Professor (FULL) of Statistics and currently the Vice Chancellor of Tamale Technical University. Prof. Saeed hails from Walewale in the North East Region of Ghana. Prof. Saeed had his basic education at the Sakasaka primary school in Tamale. He obtained both his GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level certificates from Ghana Secondary School and Tamale Secondary School respectively. Prof. Saeed also holds a teacher’s certificate ‘A’ from the E.P. training college (Bimbila). He is a proud alumnus of the then Kumasi Polytechnic, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics. Prof Saeed continued his tertiary education at the KNUST where he also obtained both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree(s) in Mathematics. Being academically inclined, he pursued and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Management Science and Engineering (focusing on Health Statistics) at the Jiangsu University in China.
Prof. Bashiru Imoro Ibn Saeed is an accomplished educationist who has taught at both basic and secondary levels in the Northern and Ashanti regions of Ghana. He has also taught at the Kumasi Technical University where he rose through the ranks to the level of Associate Professor. In the employment of the Kumasi Technical University, Prof. Saeed served at various leadership positions. He served as Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in September 2014. He also served as the Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology from October, 2014 to 2019. Prof. Saeed was also the Dean of the Graduate School of the Kumasi Technical University from 2019 to 2020. As Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology and Graduate School, Prof. Saeed served on a number of committees at the management level and has therefore collected nuggets of knowledge and experience.
Prof. Saeed has also served on various international and professional bodies. He served as a member of the Global Talent Monitoring (GTM), and also as a member of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medical Sciences (STEMM) from Dec, 2019 till date. He has also served as Director of the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis (KsTU) between 2019 and 2020. He is currently the Director of the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis (TaTU Data Science Lab) for Tamale Technical University.
Prof. Saeed served as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Ghana Census of Agriculture from August, 2017 to 2019. He was also a member of the Trainer of Trainers of the Ghana Census of Agriculture form February, 2018. Between 2019 and 2020, Prof. Saeed served as chairman of the Project Grants committee for Kumasi Technical University (KsTU). He also served as the chairman for the KsTU-UMAT Quality Assurance System Implementation Committee between March, 2019 to August, 2020. Prof. Saeed served as lead-researcher for the “Partnership for Applied Sciences (PASS)” project, which was jointly conducted by the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, International University of Applied Sciences, Bad Honnef, Cape Coast Technical University and Kumasi Technical University (a DAAD/MIWF funded project).
Prof. Saeed is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute. He is currently the National Vice President of the Ghana Statistical Association (GSA), and a life patron for Ghana Association of Statistical Students (GASS). Prof Saeed also serves as a statistical sciences consultant. He also served as Chairman for the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Technical University Review Committee of the KsTU. He served as a member of the Proposal Review Committee of the KsTU, which ensured the mounting of several B.Tech and graduate programmes at the KsTU.
Through the unique efforts of Prof. Saeed, the Kumasi Technical University brought together a formidable team of excellent lecturers in the area of Statistical Sciences. This group of lecturers contributed immensely to the establishment of various statistics programmes that were given accreditation and mounted at the Kumasi Technical University. Prof. Saeed has also fostered collaborations between the KsTU and local and international institutions of higher learning.
In the area of research, Prof. Saeed has supervised a myriad of student research projects at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has also reviewed several research works from social and health related areas.
