The Vice Chancellor of Tamale Technical University, Prof. Abass Braimah on Thursday 15th September, paid a reciprocal visit to the Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Her Excellency Chao Garcia inside her office in Accra. This visit came on the heels of an earlier working visit of the Ambassador to the University sometime in February this year. During her visit to the institution, the Ambassador interacted with the Management and visited the University Hospital. She pledged to the University’s hospital to allocate three specialist medical Doctors to augment the current staffing gap of this essential personnel. She also offered to link critical Research Institutions in Cuba to TaTU, especially in the areas of collaborative research and academic exchanges. The Ambassador reiterated these pledges and updated the Vice-Chancellor on the progress made so far in respect of the postings of these Doctors. She indicated that the administrative bottlenecks that is hindering this issue are almost resolved and TaTU should get themselves prepared to welcome this personnel. Her Excellency Chao encouraged the University to initiate gender-related programs so that her outfit could support or partner to carry out those programs. She once again reminded the Vice Chancellor of her commitment to link TaTU to Research and Educational Institutions in Cuba. She was quick to suggest that she would instead link TaTU directly to these institutions for them to deal directly with each other. Her Excellency expressed her excitement about the visit and said her doors are opened for future engagement from the University.
The Vice-Chancellor was in the company of the Head of Public Affairs of the University, Osman Mubarik, and the Head of Languages and Liberal Studies, Dr. Iddrisu Abu Fatima.
