Academic has begun on the campus of the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) following the break for the festive season with students registering for their respective courses at the academic unit.
While freshmen and women who had admission to pursue respective programmes are also going through the registration processes.
Though the lecture halls are almost empty, the office of the academic and admission units are throng with both freshmen and women as well as continue students with Head of Departments assisting to get students registered for their courses.
Some freshmen and women and the continue students were seen on campus either discussing academic issues with the fresh especially going round seeking for their lecture halls.
The University media team saw excitement on some students as they move in groups from the lecture halls to their hostels preparing themselves for lectures for the academic year.
Some freshmen and women who spoke with the University media team expressed gratitude for the honour to be admitted into the university to pursue their respective programmes and therefore promise to focus on their academic work to achieve their aims of being on campus.
“TaTU is one of the best Technical University in Ghana that provides students with the needed practical and skills to qualify graduates to meet the industry demands. That is why we chose to further our education in TaTU”, some said.
Some students also lamented about the high rate of fees for students and therefore appealed to leadership to look into it for some adjustments.
Some students do believe that, the President John Mahama made some policies to absorb school fees for first years at the various Universities and therefore expect the government to effect such to enable them pay their fees.
Though some students successfully registered their courses, others also have challenge which has created some tension on campus, some staff said.
In the midst of all this, Lecturers of TaTU were seen prepared to put in their best and optimistic for excellence as the Academic Year begins.
The Admissions officer Mr. Alhassan Yakabu in response to the issues at hand said, management has put in place measurements to ensure students get their programmes registered.
