URBAN ROADS’ DIRECTOR PAYS WORKING VISIT TO TAMALE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

The Management of Tamale Technical University (TaTU) on Tuesday 15th March, 2022 played a host to the Northern Regional Director of the Department of Urban Roads, Ing. Kwasi A. Darku. He was in the company of the Regional Quantity Surveyor, Ing. Hudu.

According to the Director, the visit to the technical university was to a follow up on an earlier request by the University Management to meet with them to open up discussions on possible collaborations with the Faculty of the Built Environment and other areas of interest. The Engineer indicated the department of Urban Road’s’ commitment to support the University especially in fixing their internal road network. He lamented about the slow pace of the progress of work on the TaTU bypass that will be linking motorist into the Wurishe communities which will consequently reduce the traffic flow into the University. He said the department of Urban Roads, both at the local and national levels, pays more attention to educational institutions’ infrastructural needs and therefore reminded the University management to put in their road network deficit request to his office for subsequent submission to the national office for further consideration. He said over the years his outfit had considered several students from TaTU for internships and other related academic assignments. The director concluded by reassuring the University Management of his commitment to formally sign a collaborative memorandum with the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abass Braimah expressed the University’s readiness to closely engage the Department of Urban Roads particularly in solving the deplorable state of the road network in the University. He said TaTU staff and students indeed really appreciate the asphalting of the main road into the university’s main campus. He expressed the University’s appreciation to the Urban Roads for helping to shape TaTU’s students during their industrial attachments. He pledged to immediately ensure that the University will swiftly submit their road infrastructural gap to his outfit for action. In attendance was Prof. Bashiru I.I. Saeed, the Pro Vice Chancellor, Alhaji Iddrisu Yakubu, Registrar, Mr Abdallah Adam, Director of Physical Development and Mr. Osman Mubarik, Director of Public Affairs of the University.
