FACULTY OF AGRIC. COWPEA FARM VISITED BY THE VICE-CHANCELLOR OF TaTU

  Published : by

On Tuesday 5th September 2023, the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abass Braimah, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Mohammed Askia, and the Director of Public Affairs, Osman Mubarik visited the acquired University’s 80-acre farm at Zogu in the Savelugu Municipality. The purpose of their visit was to monitor a 5-acre cowpea farm initiated by the faculty as part of their commitment to hands-on training for students.

The Vice-Chancellor’s positive impression of the faculty’s efforts in combining farming and teaching is noteworthy. Such practical experiences can greatly enhance students’ understanding and skills in agriculture and natural resources. It also demonstrates the university’s dedication to providing a well-rounded education that extends beyond traditional classroom learning. These types of initiatives can have a positive impact on both the educational experience of the students and the local community’s agricultural practices.

It would be interesting to hear more about the outcomes and benefits of this initiative in the future, including how it has contributed to the students’ learning and the community’s agricultural development.

The University acquired this farm through the initiative and support of the paramount Chief of the Sagnarigu Traditional Area, H.E. Yakubu Abdulai.
