Tamale Technical University is located in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region, which was carved out of the Tamale Metropolis. The campus is situated approximately 3 kilometres from the Tamale central business district.
The institution shares its boundaries with two major educational institutions and two local communities: Tamale Senior High School to the south-west, Bagabaga College of Education to the north-west, the Wurishe community to the north, and the Choggu community to the east. The University occupies a total landmass of 715,064.4 square metres.
