Prof. Bashir Ibn Imoro Saeed

BASHIRU IMORO IBN SAEED hails from Walewale in the North East Region in Ghana. He had his Basic Education in Sakasaka primary Kalpohin middle B. He attended Ghana Secondary School and Tamale Secondary School where he obtained his GCE ‘O’ level and GCE ‘A’ level certificates respectively. He holds teacher’s Certificate “A” from E. P. Training College. He is also a proud alumnus of Kumasi Polytechnic, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics. He received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2003 and 2009 respectively. Between 2011 and 2015, he studied for a Doctor of Philosophy in Management Science and Engineering(Thesis focus in Health Statistics) at Jiangsu University in China.

Bashiru I. I. Saeed is an educationist and has taught at both basic and secondary schools in the Northern and Ashanti Regions of Ghana before joining Kumasi Polytechnic where he rose through the ranks.

Bashiru I. I. Saeed served as a Head of Department for Mathematics and Statistics in September 2014, and Dean of faculty of Applied Sciences from October 2014 to August 2019. He also served as the Dean of Graduate School from September 2019 to August 2, 2020. He served on a number of committees at the management level of the Kumasi Technical University.

Bashiru served as a member of Global Talent Mentoring (GTM), STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical sciences), from December 2019 to Date. From January 2020 to August 2 2020, he became a Director of LABORATORY for INTERDISCIPLINARY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS(KsTU-LISA). He was also a Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of Ghana Census of Agriculture from August 2017-2019. He was also a member of the trainer of trainers of Ghana Census of Agriculture from February 2018. In February 2019, he was the Chairman of the Project Grants Committee for Kumasi Technical University. Bashiru served as a chairman KsTU-UMaT Quality Assurance System Implementation March 2019 to August 2 2020. Bashiru served as a Research lead for the “Partnership for Applied Sciences –PASS“ project, conducted jointly by the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef, Cape Coast Technical University and Kumasi Technical University, funded by DAAD/MIWF: From July 2017 to June 2021.

He headed a team that collaborated with MTN Foundation to submit proposal for funding the construction of a Data Science Lab in 2017. Bashiru I I Saeed is an ELECTED member of International Statistical Institute. Bashiru is the National Vice President, Ghana Statistical Association(GSA) and a Life Patron for Ghana Association of Statistics Students(GASS) from 2009 to date Bashiru served as a Consultant, Ghana Statistical Service, Chairman, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Technical University Review Committee, and Chairman, Quality Assurance Technical University Review Committee. Bashiru has served other Boards in the Kumasi Technical University, this include; Editorial Board Member of Kumasi Polytechnic Journal, February 2015, Member of Academic Board and its sub committees from September 2014 to August 2 2020. He also served as a Member of Proposal Review Team on Ministry and Environment and COTVET Research Grant, Kumasi Polytechnic, Ghana 2014-2016, Association of Ghana and Field Supervisor for Ghana’s 2010 Population and Housing Census 2010. Bashiru served as a Member of Research and Academic Writing Committee, Jan-April 2011, National Patron, Ghana Association of Statistics Students'' (GASS), 2009 – to date.

Prof. Bashiru out of resilient team building, the Kumasi Technical University acquired team of excellent lecturers in Statistical Sciences. Developed a culture of high research outputs in research from various social problems. Reinforced and extended the current High National Diploma (HND)that led to the ACCREDITATION of Statistical Sciences programmes that include: (Bachelor) B-Tech in DATA SCIENCE, B-Tech in FINANACIAL STATISTICS, B-Tech in HEALTH STATISTICS, B-Tech in ENVIRONMENTAL STATISTICS, and (Researched Masters) M-Tech in HEALTH STATISTICS, M-Tech in FINANACIAL STATISTICS and M-Tech in ENVIRONMENTAL STATISTICS. He also foster collaborations with local and international high learning institutions and private sectors.

In the world of research, Prof Bashiru has supervised research works of undergraduates and graduate students respectively. He has also served in reviewing several research works that include social and health related. Some articles and journals reviewed include;
